The reason he didn't get the plea deal and this even went to trial is so Joe can assure his silence. Holding his pardon over his head keeps the people from hearing his testimony. What was hunter required to do in order to receive his deal? That's why the deal couldn't be allowed. Hunter will appeal this and win. But that will take years to come about.

Don’t they hear themselves whining about the same thing they are doing to Trump? Just goes to show you how ridiculous they are. No doubt in my mind if he does get jail time Joe will pardon him as he only said he wouldn’t because he thought Hunter would get a deal.
