Yet they still are loyal to their local government, and resent any outside agency or organizations to help. It is actually worse then people know, it is almost impossible to confirm someone graduated from hs or college in PR as they will not answer any request. Also to get any court document back from there is a nightmare as all records are paper, and they take their time responding but charge 100's. So many looking for a job get passed over because nothing gets verified.

Unfortunately, the corrupted government needs to end. Hopefully with the new elect in Puerto Rico things change for the better on the island

It probably won't. There is an underlying problem of holding onto the past at all cost and not adapting to the future. Although English is not the official language of the US it is the language that is used in the business/government world yet a large percentage of the residents on the island cannot speak english fluently. They work against their own interest, and still refuse to become a state although as a territory they have no rights, voice or protection
