So what is everyone's take on the tarrifs? Do you think it will cause a depression or actually balance the trade imbalance?

We've been in a recession for the last four years. As the dollar has lost value and currency inflated. While paying more for your goods somehow we were lead to believe that the economy was good. You can't run the country by producing massive debt to run unnecessary programs. This is a last ditch effort to keep the dollar from collapsing. You can't run a business spending more than you take in, then paying interest on money borrowed to pay to run the business. This is called bankruptcy. This country has been bankrupt since 1933. But now we can't even pay the vig.

Anything that works takes time and will hurt at first but the results will be worth it

I think it will cause a short recession as it has to hurt the other countries first, as well, in order to get them to concede and lower their tariffs. I never realized how much the difference was that other countries have us pay when they paid next to nothing on our tariffs. We pay 67% tariff to China, 90% to Vietnam, 72% Thailand, 97% Cambodia and the other countries are around 60%. Our tariffs are anywhere from 10% to 30% with our highest of 46 % to Thailand. We are getting abused with the tariffs from other countries so something has to be done. Yes it takes time, but sometimes you got to stand up to the “bullies” who take advantage and hopefully don’t get knocked down. Really wishing it brings back manufacturing to the US which will enrich our people with jobs, lower cost and more money in the pockets of the American people.

But I think this new generation is soft, and want instant gratification. Can They stand the heat or will they vote to flip the house and senate.
